Project Consultancy
The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), a mechanism under the Kyoto Protocol, which has been recently extended to its second commitment period, attains the twin aspirations of promoting sustainable development in non-Annex I (Developing) countries while facilitating compliance with the greenhouse gas mitigation commitments of Annex I (Developed) countries. Adoption of mitigation measures which not only accelerate transition to a low carbon economy but are an important tool to escalate sustainable business practices as "carbon price" is established for every tonne of reduced greenhouse gas emission.

CDM Project consultancy services include

  • Making all renewable energy projects (wind, hydro, biomass and solar), Natural gas power plants, energy efficiency projects, methane avoidance projects avail CDM or VCS benefits.
  • Development of project design document (selecting baseline, establishing additionality etc), facilitating host country approval, assistance for stakeholder consultation, coordinating through validation and issues resolution to finalize validation report; completing formalities for requesting registration and further supporting in review process.
  • Carrying out verification and issuance of Emission Reduction (CERs), Verified Emission Reduction (VER); taking up notification of changes, deviation and revision in monitoring plans, clarifications from Meth Panel and EB.
  • Apart from regular CDM projects we hold expertise in the PoA type of CDM project activities. We provide CDM advisory on PoA requirements completion, facilitating CDM validation and registration; exclusive advisory to manage CERs.
  • Complete assistance in managing carbon assets; obtaining price bids, facilitating Emission Reduction Purchase Agreements (ERPAs)
  • Technical Areas
    1. Renewable Energy [Biomass, wind, hydro & solar energy]
    2. Waste Heat Recovery
    3. Cogeneration
    4. Fuel Switch
    5. Captive Power Project
    6. Waste to Energy
    7. Methane Avoidance

    Project Feasibility
The complete carbon market is occupied with only few kinds of technologies (like wing, hydro, biomass power plants) and due to lack of process understanding many other technologies which are eligible for CDM benefits does not carry out the validation process.

We carry out due diligence audits with required precision with which a project can be assessed and analyzed before it is taken up. A pros/cons analysis of the project along with a technical and a financial review, including a site visit are the steps carried out as a part of due diligence.

Our well trained team conducts Due Diligence programs of which the scope of services include:

  • Due diligence of potential CDM/VCS projects.
  • Reviewing and drafting their technical, economical and environmental details.
  • Determining the feasibility of such potential CDM projects.
  • Identification of CER reduction opportunities.
  • Developing and proposing new methodology at UNFCCC for the projects with unique technologies.
  • Establishing the monitoring and verification plan and commercialization of carbon credits by assessment of various market perspectives.
  • Carbon Portfolio Management:
We help and encourage various corporate to manage their carbon portfolio. With strong technical expertise and in-depth process understanding, we put appropriate monitoring systems, conduct capacity development for staff, carry out periodic pre-verification check, do risk assessment and implement mitigation plans, work towards timely resolution of issues and processing of deviation/revision, if required, to reduce time delays.

    Capacity Building
We conduct/help organizations in conducting awareness workshops and information programs to bring together the key stakeholders, to exchange information and map the path forward in CDM activities. Presentations and discussion panels provide insights on the requirements and challenges related to CDM Process and Kyoto protocol designed by United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) standardization in various sectors. The interactions during the knowledge sharing sessions benefit the participants in addressing the capability gaps leading to improved productivity at their organizations.
